The program of studies offered at St. Vincent de Paul seeks to equip high school bound students with the foundation for scholastic excellence while tailoring the curriculum to individual differences. Students acquire basic skills, virtues and habits of success in higher education. Emphasis is placed on applying their knowledge and training toward the on-going development of the whole person.
State academic requirements are met and exceeded in all academic areas, physical education, health and the arts. Through our caring, qualified and dedicated faculty, emphasis is placed on writing, reading and speaking with the expectation that our graduates have the ability and confidence to express themselves clearly, concisely and correctly in all disciplines.
Accreditation
St. Vincent de Paul School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, and effectively prepares its students for the challenges of secondary education. Our graduates are among the outstanding students at the region's most prestigious high schools and prep schools.
Facilities
Our school building is clean and modern. There are spacious classrooms, many equipped with interactive whiteboards, and projectors. As well as classrooms, there is a fully equipped Science lab, Gymnasium, Technology Center with 30 computers, Library/ Media center, and an art room, The grounds are in pristine condition and feature a playground for the student as well as open fields.
Faculty
Our faculty and staff are committed to providing a superior learning environment. Some teachers hold multiple degrees. All attend educational programs on a continuing basis to enhance skills and keep current. Faculty value the partnership with parents in the education of students. In order to facilitate strong communication, teachers post homework, tests and class notices to Edline, the school's intranet, on a daily basis. Parents of students in all grades may view their child's gradebook online throughout the school year to monitor progress.
Curriculum
St. Vincent's meets or exceeds all state and diocesan curriculum standards. Enhanced programs include subjects such as Spanish for all grades and 4 days a week for 5th through 8th grades. The majority of our students test out of Freshman spanish upon entry to High school.
As well as a strong core curriculum, the school offers weekly classes in Physical Education, Art, Music, Library, Science Lab and Technology.
Standardized Testing
Kindergarten through 7th grade students annually participate in the Terra Nova tests, the official standardized testing instrument of the Diocese of Paterson. 8th grade students take the High School entrance exam. St. Vincent's students consistently rank in the upper percentile of all students tested.
