Washington Comes to Stirling as SVDP Holds a March for Life

In an effort to bring a greater awareness to the precious gift of life, St. Vincent de Paul School hosted a March for Life in concurrence with the Washington, D.C. March for Life. The students actively participated by creating their own special banners and a life chain of prayer intentions. "The children have been very excited to participate in helping with the right to life cause. They have been bringing in links for the life chain since before Christmas and this is a wonderful way to celebrate the gift of life at all stages through the eyes and excitement of children." stated Nora DiDia, Principal of St Vincent de Paul School.
Friday, January 22 was a beautiful day. After praying the rosary in the Gym, the students marched around the school to the church. Monsignor Patrick Brown led a prayer service in front of the Respect for Life monument by the Lady Chapel. BethAnne FitzPatrick, coordinator of the March and LifeSkills teacher at the school hopes that other catholic schools will follow suit and take this opportunity to educate their students in a loving and prayerful way to this most important issue. "I believe it is our responsibility as catholic educators to teach our children one of the most fundamental beliefs of the Catholic Church...the gift of life from the moment of conception to natural death," said FitzPatrick. "That is our main goal with our mini march...we hope that the children will enjoy supporting such an important cause." she added.
