Family and friends of Cub Scouts Pack #59 kept an eye on the action as Pinewood Derby cars went whizzing by at the annual Derby held on Saturday, January 16th in the SVDP Gym.  For the past few weeks leading up to the event, the Cubs have been busy carving, sanding and painting their Pinewood Derby cars.  All were careful to make sure their cars did not weigh more than 5 ounces. 

Mere hundredths of seconds separated cars from one another at the finish line.  This year the largest race came in the Friends and Family category where anyone who was interested could race a car.  Entrants included Paulie of Paulie's Calabria who created a replica of his Paulie's Calabria pizza delivery truck.  The winners were:  Tigers:  Matthew Stanton, Wolves:  Joe Faccone, Bears:  William Walto, Weblos I:  Joseph Wagner, Weblos II:  Bobby dePoortere, Friends & Family:  Matt Wager (of the SVDP Arts & Environment Committee).
